A first-trimester ultrasound can occur as early as six to eight weeks into your pregnancy.
It checks the health of your baby, measures its length from crown to rump, and verifies your due date. It also verifies whether you’re having one or multiple babies.
At this appointment, you may even be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat.
This ultrasound is done inside your uterus. It may be a bit uncomfortable, but is generally not painful.
