Facing an Unplanned Pregnancy? You’re Not Alone—AWC Centers Are Here to Help.

If you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, it’s normal to feel scared or isolated. But you don’t have to go through it alone. AWC Centers offer free pregnancy testing and first-trimester ultrasounds to help determine the viability of your pregnancy and discuss your options in a supportive, confidential environment.

We are not mandatory reporters, so your appointments will remain completely confidential. Additionally, we provide free counseling services to help you navigate feelings of anxiety, fear, depression, or past traumas.

Basic Information

Human Life Protection Act

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the Human Life Protection Act, HB 1280 (Trigger Law), went into effect. Abortion (medical/chemical & surgical) is now illegal in Texas unless necessary to save the life of the mother.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Statutory Definition of Illegal AbortionAbortion is prohibited, unless the pregnant woman has a life-threatening physical condition aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy that places her at risk of death or poses a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function.
Penalty for Unlawful AbortionFirst-degree felony (second-degree felony if the unborn child survives the abortion attempt)
Physician Licensing RequirementsLicensed physician
